The CHP Northern Division rotary wing aircraft was not available due to maintenance issues, so a CHP helicopter was called in from the Auburn Airbase. The California National Guard says its “Spartan 630” helicopter retrieved the severely injured man from the mountain at around 12:30PM Thursday, but Sieleman was pronounced dead by an onboard medic.
