Sheriff’s Office Raid Large Marijuana Garden

The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office raided a large marijuana grow on Old Oregon Trail on Friday morning. Deputies arrived at the home at 14257 Old Oregon Trail at 7AM and began searching the property. They say 48-year-old Lavern Rubio Jr. wasn’t home at the time, but his parents were home. They were detained, but were not involved so they were released. Rubio’s 23-year-old son was home and was detained. He was on felony probation. Agents destroyed 131 marijuana plants that ranged in height from one to twelve feet tall. Deputies say each plant could produce between two and 3 pounds of processed bud. Also during the search, agents found a semi-automatic rifle, over 2 pounds of dried marijuana, and commercial grade growing equipment. Dillion Rubio allegedly admitted to growing the marijuana, and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Deputies will be filing felony charges against Lavern & Dillion Rubio.
