Man Faces 89 Year In Prison

A Redding man has been convicted for his role in an abduction and robbery scheme that attracted victims through Facebook. In July of 2014, 38-year-old Margarito Santos of Chico came to Redding to meet a woman he met on Facebook. When he arrived on Willis Street he was confronted by a group who hit him with a stun gun and robbed him of his ATM card, then used it while holding him against his will. The group also victimized Carlos Linares of Shasta Lake and Timothy Valdez of Redding. Both of them also had been lured by a woman on Facebook. 5 people were eventually arrested, including Michael Bradley. Because all 3 victims are Hispanic and the suspects made white supremacist statements, hate crime charges were included in the prosecution. Bradley, who has 2 prior strikes and 2 prior prison terms, was found guilty by a jury Monday. When he’s sentenced in October he could get 89 years to life in prison.
