Police Say Pedestrian Struck By DUI Driver Was At Fault

Redding Police say a pedestrian was at fault when he was struck by an allegedly drunk driver Saturday night. The collision happened at around 10:30PM on Parkview Avenue at State Street, just a couple hundred feet from the Redding Police Department. 42-year-old Daren Christian Reed was driving his Honda Civic eastbound when he hit 31-year-old Jacob Harnden of Montague. Harnden suffered significant injuries but he’s expected to survive. Investigators say Harnden had been standing in the middle of the road and tests showed he had a lot of drugs in his system. Although reed was not at fault for hitting Harnden, he was still booked into jail for felony DUI.
