Thousands of Northern Californian’s who are eligible for discounts on their PG&E bills are missing out. The utility says there are more than 12,000 such households, including more than 5,000 in Shasta County. Signing up for the “CARE” Program could mean a savings of up to 20% or more on a customer’s monthly bill. The state public utilities commission changes the eligibility requirements each year. Right now a family of four can make over 48,000 Dollars a year and still qualify. The program is paid for by a surcharge on everyone’s bill. Information is available at pge.com/care or 1-866-743-2273.
