An investigation is underway to determine what happened before a dead man was found in a burning car in Mountain Gate early Sunday morning. At around Midnight the fire was reported at the south end of Wonderland Boulevard, where the road dead ends. Ten minutes later the car was fully engulfed by flames. CHP Sergeant Shannon McGrane said they weren’t yet able to determine the man’s identity, his age, or the make of the car. McGrane said the car appeared to have crashed into the barrier at the end of the road but he didn’t know if there were any skid marks to indicate an attempt to stop. McGrane said investigators are also trying to determine what started the fire, which spread to the dry grass and brush in the adjacent field.
