Police searched in vain Tuesday afternoon for an armed man in South Redding. Several people called 9-1-1 to report someone with a handgun walking in and out of traffic in the area of Highway 273 and Clear Creek Road. Officers headed to the scene along with a CHP helicopter to search for the gunman. Witnesses saw him walking into the Clear Creek Mobile Home Park on Westside Road. An automated reverse 9-1-1 call was used to alert the residents as the area search was done. No sign was found of the mystery person.
