Many Call It A Thanksgiving Miracle

Thanksgiving will forever be a special day for a Mountain Gate family, after the return of a 34-year-old mother of two who had been missing for more than 3 weeks. After all the guessing and speculation, it turns out Sherri Papini had, in fact, been abducted by strangers. She was released by her captors very early Thanksgiving morning near Interstate 5 on Yolo County Road 17. She was still bound in restraints, but she managed to make her way close enough to the freeway to catch the attention of a passerby, who called 911 for her. Sherri was taken to a hospital in the Sacramento area to be treated for injuries, the nature of which have not been publicly revealed. The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office was notified at 4:30am and they passed word onto the family. Sherri’s husband Keith was reunited with her as quickly as possible. It was the first time he had seen her since she vanished without a trace on November 2nd while jogging near her home on Sunrise Drive near Old Oregon Trail in the Mountain Gate area. Over the course of 3 weeks, more than 400 tips from the public led nowhere. The motive for the abduction has not been revealed. Although Sherri is safe, the case is far from over as the focus now is on identifying and capturing the abductors. The only description provided by Sherri is two Hispanic women armed with a handgun in a dark-colored SUV. Secret Witness is still offering a $10,000 reward for anonymous tips about the suspects at 243-2319 or scsecretwitness.com
