Mission Seeks Donations For Christmas Celebration

The Good News Rescue Mission is appealing to the community with an urgent call for turkeys and hams. The Mission’s Christmas Celebration is this Friday. They’ll be serving anyone who shows up during 6 different meal times throughout the day. The children’s program is from 2 to 4, with gift giveaways. In addition to all those meals, there will also be 500 local families who receive gift bags containing everything they need for their own traditional Christmas feasts. The trouble is, the pantry is short by around 2-to-300 frozen turkeys or hams, which they need donated this week. People in need will also be given coats, mittens and hats. Mission Director Jonathan Anderson points out that the Christmas Celebration is not just for the homeless or the desperately poor. It’s all about loving one’s neighbor and building bridges across economic and social gaps. Everyone is invited to eat, and some volunteers are still needed as well. More details are at gnrm.org.
