A tense standoff ended without injuries Wednesday night. Multiple reports were received by dispatchers at about 8:30PM of shots fired at a residence on Cirrus Street. A large number of patrol officers, assisted by the Highway Patrol helicopter set up a perimeter around the residence. Officers made contact with and elderly couple as they fled the home. They reported that their son 36-year-old Kao Luang Saechaeo was inside of his bedroom and suddenly began discharging a firearm. Numerous rounds went through the walls, striking the couch where the couple was watching television. Officers began to hail Saechao over a loud speaker. After a short standoff he exited the home and surrendered to officers without incident. The investigation revealed that the weapon, a hand-gun was stolen. At least a dozen rounds were fired. Saechao was booked into the Shasta County Jail for possession of a stolen gun, negligent discharge, and elder abuse.
