Autopsy Inconclusive For Man Killed In Brutal Attack

An autopsy was done Wednesday on David Wicks, one week after someone killed him by setting him on fire inside a Burney gas station. At around 7 O’clock last Wednesday night, the unknown attacker, who’s believed to be male, walked into the Rocky Ledge Shell Station in Johnson Park and started spraying some type of flammable liquid at the 54-year-old clerk. The liquid was sprayed around the store before the man lit it on fire on his way out. The fire engulfed the store and wicks was severely burned. He died on his way to the hospital. The killer got away on a black beach-style bicycle, which was found a few blocks away. Sheriff’s deputies also found the yellow rain gear the attacker was wearing. His face was concealed behind a cloth. Wick’s employer, co-workers and friends have no idea why anybody would want to hurt him. A candlelight vigil was held in wick’s honor Wednesday night in Burney.  A $15,000 is available for anonymous tips at 243-2319 or scsecretwitness.com.
