A major manhunt was launched in Yreka Thursday after a prisoner escaped from a deputy’s car. The deputy was just arriving at the jail when 21-year-old Aaron Peruzzi of Weed was able to slip away. He had been arrested for possession of a stolen gun. More than a half dozen agencies assisted in setting up and maintaining a perimeter and warnings were broadcast and telephoned to area residents. Eventually someone spotted Peruzzi and he was taken back into custody.
