Residents Warned To Stay Clear Of Lake Siskiyou After Sewage Spill

The clean pure waters of Cold Creek and Lake Siskiyou are tainted by a sewage spill in Mount Shasta City. Siskiyou County officials say a main sewer line south of Hatchery Lane and west of Interstate 5 has broken, sending an unknown volume of untreated wastewater into Cold Creek. The City of Mount Shasta is working on repairs and they have no estimate as to when the repairs will be complete. They also have no estimate of how much of the raw sewage has escaped. In the meantime, it’s urgent that nobody come into contact with the water of Cold Creek or Lake Siskiyou. Those who have should seek medical attention. This is the second major spill of its kind recently in that same area. In October huge spill of raw untreated sewage flowed into Boles Creek, which is a tributary to Lake Shastina. That spill came from the City of Weed.
