Pellet Gun Forces Closure Of Anderson River Park

A gun scare closed Anderson River Park Friday. At around 12:30PM someone called Anderson Police to report seeing people shooting a silver and black pistol. They apparently had arrived in an old Crown Victoria that looks like a police car. Police volunteers and a cadet were used to shut the park down while officers used high risk tactics to approach the area where the gun was seen. Five people were detained. The gun turned out to be a pellet gun. After an admonishment for shooting in the park, the group was allowed to leave.
