A change approved by the Redding City Council at Tuesday night’s meeting is expected to save the electric utility around a Million Dollars. The council approved the purchase and replacement of catalyst emissions systems for Redding’s natural gas fired power plant’s generating units 5 and 6. The Million Dollar savings is estimated over the life of the units. The move also will save about 5 Million gallons of water each year and reduce carbon dioxide emissions for what amounts to the equivalent of 320 cars each year.
