Bosenko Declares State Of Emergency After Storm Damage

A county-wide state of emergency has been declared by Sheriff Tom Bosenko due to recent storm damage. Public Works Director Pat Minturn has reported more than $270,000 worth of infrastructure damage. Two costly storm-related incidents happened on January 9th.  One of them was a huge mudslide on Big Bend Road. The other was on Whiskey Creek Road, where a culvert 13 feet in diameter washed out. There have been a number of other damaged and washed out county roads. In addition to the long-term damage, public works has also spent about $50,000 on materials and overtime during emergency operations. The sheriff will ask the board of supervisors for the emergency declaration at next Tuesday’s meeting.
