Shasta Lake Planning Commission Approves Honey Oil Facility

The City of Shasta Lake is again showing itself to be Shasta County’s most marijuana tolerant town, with a proposed honey oil factory. The Shasta Lake Planning Commission gave its approval Wednesday for “Norcal Nectar”, which wants to start a concentrated cannabis extraction facility on Iron Court in an industrial area. The operation wouldn’t use the butane process, which has caused numerous explosions and several deaths in the area. Norcal Nectar would use carbon dioxide instead, with no risk of explosions. The commission approved the project but it still is subject to approval by the Shasta Lake City Council, which has been very receptive in the past to the cannabis industry. A sales tax on the city’s three medical marijuana dispensaries imposed in 2014 has brought Hundreds of Thousands of Dollars a year in revenue to the city.
