Trial Date Set For Man Who Allegedly Planned A “Day Of Reckoning”

A trial date has been set for a man accused of threatening a killing spree on Shasta County Sheriff’s Deputies. In September of 2015 Robert Alan Gibbs of French Gulch allegedly called the State Attorney General’s Office to say he planned a “day of reckoning” during which he would carry out a Columbine-style attack on a local school. Gibbs had been involved in a standoff with deputies the previous month after a domestic violence incident. In the call he reportedly referred to several officers by name and hoped that their children were at the school when he carried out his massacre, also saying he would kill every officer he found at an unspecified Starbucks location. When the sheriff’s office was told about the call they sent a surveillance team to Gibbs’ French Gulch home. When he left he was pulled over and arrested. He’s been in jail ever since and has made a few court appearances with a spit hood over his head after trying to spit on people in the courtroom. His trial date is set for March 21st.
