Authorities Seek Shasta Lake Market Shoplifter

A shoplifter in the City of Shasta Lake became a robber when he started throwing rocks at his pursuers. At around 7:40PM Thursday night a man at the Sentry Market on Shasta Dam Boulevard loaded up with food items and headed out the door. Employees tried to stop him and he ran towards Clair Engle Park, then picked up a rock and hurled it at an employee, striking him and causing minor injuries. The thief then met up with two other men at the park. A witness was trying to follow the suspects in a car but one of them threw a rock at the car and damaged it. Sheriff’s deputies set up a perimeter as a CHP helicopter circled above, but the men were not found. The one who fled the store looked to be in his late 30’s, about 5-foot-7 and 170 pounds with short brown hair wearing a flat-billed San Jose Sharks Hat. The one who threw the rock at the car was bald and about 6 feet tall.
