A house in the City of Shasta Lake was destroyed by a fire that started in a backyard kitchen Tuesday night. The house on Wellington Place just south of Central Valley High School is a total loss. The Southeast Asian family who lived there didn’t notice for a while that their backyard kitchen was ablaze and by that time it had already spread to the back of the house and into the attic. Although it wasn’t evident from the front of the house, the entire structure behind the front facade was destroyed.
