Honey Oil Fire Destroys Garage In North Redding

A Redding Fire Investigator called drug agents to the scene of a North Redding house fire early Sunday morning. Redding Fire Department was called at around 3:30AM to a large house on Lexington Lane in the Ridgewood Neighborhood off Collyer Drive. About a third of the house was ablaze so a second alarm was quickly called, bringing all the city’s resources. The expansive 3-car garage was destroyed, according to Battalion Chief Rob Pitt. Damage is estimated at around $150,000. Fire investigator Patrick O’connor found evidence of a Butane Honey Oil Operation in the garage and called in SINTF agents. The new marijuana laws don’t allow unlicensed production of concentrated cannabis, and the volatile butane method is always illegal. The two occupants of the house got out safely. The case against them will be given to the D.A.’s Office.
