Detectives investigating a botched home invasion in Corning that led to the death of two people have released a photograph of a vehicle that may be connected to the incident. Tehama County investigators are looking for a 2003 Honda CRV with license plate number 5DVJ198. It has tinted windows and black rims and it also may have a dent on the left rear roofline. Deputies were called January 30th to a home at the west end of Rancho Tehama Road. They found Moises Salgado Farias dead in the front yard, having apparently been shot by someone from inside the house. Witnesses said there had been an attempted home invasion that was repelled by the armed homeowner. That homeowner fled after the gunfight and has not been located. There were two other robbery suspects in a white pickup who showed up at a Chevron Station on Solano Street in Corning. The passenger, 33-year-old Valente Chavez Paniagua, stumbled into the store and collapsed with a gunshot wound to his torso. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital. The driver of the truck, believed to be 23-year-old Alfonso Antonio Vargas-Tapia, took off running from the gas station and he’s still at large. He may be armed with a handgun, and also may have a gunshot wound.
