Man Arrested After Trying To Scare Away Neighborhood Cats

A Weaverville man is in a heap of trouble after using a 45 caliber handgun to fend off neighborhood cats from harassing his cat, which is in heat. At 2 O’clock Tuesday afternoon Trinity County Sheriff’s Deputies were sent to the Masonic Lane home of 39-year-old Robert Sorensen Jr. Witnesses said he had been in his front yard firing his gun into the ground. He was arrested for negligent discharge. Deputies got a search warrant and returned later in the afternoon to search Sorensen’s house. They reported finding the gun, a 45 caliber hi-point pistol with a filed-off serial number, as well as drug paraphernalia.
