Public Meeting Planned On Marijuana Legalization

A special meeting will be held Monday for the Redding City Council to discuss marijuana. During November’s election 48% of voters in the City of Redding voted in favor of Proposition 64, which decriminalized recreational marijuana statewide. At it’s December 20th meeting the Redding City Council established a moratorium that prohibits outdoor pot growing and manufacturing pot products, as well as processing, storing, delivering and retail sales of non-medical marijuana. The moratorium was intended to give the city time to set up rules and explore tax opportunities. Monday’s workshop will begin at 2 O’clock in the council chambers at city hall.
