Postal Worker Injured In Head-On Crash

A U.S. Postal Service Letter Carrier suffered major injuries in a head-on crash Wednesday afternoon. 51-year-old Angela Akkerman had to be extricated from her mail truck before being transported to Mercy Mount Shasta for treatment. The Montague woman was driving on Big Springs Road when a Ford utility truck driven by 70-year-old Donald Knox of Weed came around a corner in her lane and hit her hit-on. The impact sent the mail truck airborne and it landed on the right side, where the driver sits. It’s not known why Knox lost control of the truck. The CHP says he was not drunk.
