RPD: Man Stabbed In Shoulder, Suspect At Large

A 47-year-old man was stabbed in South Redding Thursday morning. Redding Police and medical personnel were dispatched at 7:50AM to a laundromat on El Reno Lane. Police found James Richard McCann Jr. suffering from a stab wound to his left shoulder blade. He was transported to a hospital with a non-life-threatening wound. McCann told officers he had been involved in an argument with a man who he didn’t know. He said the suspect’s name may have been Kyle. The two were involved in some type of fight, and the suspect left for a short time, then came back and stabbed McCann once with an unknown type of knife or other sharp object. The alleged stabber is described as a white man with a scruffy beard and shoulder length blonde or light brown hair. He was wearing a blue raincoat and khaki pants. McCann said he left on foot heading north on Westside Road but responding officers were unable to locate the suspect. RPD Sergeant Les James told us the motive for the stabbing was still under investigation.
