Public Invited To Remember Speedway Announcer

A public memorial will be held for local racing legend, beverage distributor, and Asphalt Cowboy Gary Cressey. The Shasta Speedway announcer with the “golden voice” passed away February 15th at the age of 80. A celebration of his life will take place Thursday at 2 O’clock at the Redding Christian Fellowship Church on Victor Avenue. Everyone who knew Cressey is invited to attend the nostalgic look at his life. Attendees should dress casually or in racing gear. Another public event will be Friday at 11:30AM when Cressey takes his final lap around the oval track at Shasta Speedway before Patriot Guard riders escort a procession to the Veterans Cemetery in Igo for a private burial.
