Two Arrested After Crashing Stolen Pickup

A stolen pickup truck was chased early Wednesday morning from South Redding to Cottonwood, where it crashed. Just after 1AM Redding Police were called to Brookside Drive for a report of suspicious people prowling the area. Some one had seen a man and woman creeping around in their backyard with a flashlight. A little later an officer patrolling the area spotted a pickup on Pit Road that matched the description of the suspect vehicle, and appeared to be a pickup that was reported stolen Tuesday. Upon seeing the police car, the driver of the Ford F-150 immediately fled and a chase began. The pursuit went down Happy Valley Road at high speed and onto Gas Point Road. The driver lost control near Foster Road and ran the truck into a tree. The driver and passenger both fled on foot. A short time later 28-year-old Dana Elizabeth Brooks, believed to be the driver, and 39-year-old Jero Thayer Salva, were found in a nearby wooded area and arrested. They had to be treated for minor injuries before being booked into jail. Brooks had four outstanding warrants, including one for failure to appear on a previous stolen vehicle charge.
