Anderson Man Crashes Airplane In Tehama County

An elderly Anderson man had a hard landing with his Ultralight aircraft Sunday afternoon. A resident of Via Pasado Road in the Bend Area north of Red Bluff called 9-1-1 at around 2:45PM to report that he had seen a bright yellow Ultralight going down. He said he was going to try to find it, which he did. Tehama County Sheriff’s Deputies met the caller at the crash scene 15 minutes later. The pilot, 74-year-old Andrew Jessen, said he had experienced a mechanical failure and the small flying machine became unresponsive. Jessen managed to guide the plane down and made what he described as a “hard landing”.  He was not injured. The Federal Aviation Administration was contacted but because that class of aircraft is unregistered, there will be no investigation.
