New hours of opening have been put in place for Highway 299 at Big French Creek in Trinity County. Cal-Trans says significant progress is being made on the Highway 299 detour but a permanent solution is still a number of months from completion. The new schedule will have openings every hour on the hour between 6AM and 6PM Monday through Saturday. Drivers must be in line in order to pass through. The detour will open to one-way traffic control overnight between 6PM and 6AM. One hour delays can be expected. The detour will be open to one-way traffic control all day on Sundays, with delays of no more than 30 minutes. The highway was closed in mid-December after a massive volume of rock and dirt dropped from the mountainside.
