The Shasta County Coroners Office has released the name of the boy who was killed by a train in South Redding Wednesday. He was only 12-years-old. At 8:43AM Elijah Gabriel walker was struck by a southbound locomotive while running from the Westwood Village stoplight toward Eastside Road and Star Drive. Elijah may not have seen the locomotive because it was traveling solo without any cars behind it, and he may not have heard it because he was wearing headphones. Elijah’s mother was there to witness the terrible scene. Anyone who was present at the time is asked to contact Chief Deputy Coroner Lieutenant Gene Randall at 225-5551.
