The Shasta County Coroner’s Office has released the name of the man shot dead last week by Anderson Police. At around 9:30PM the night of March 26th four officers were at the Anderson Motel 6 on McMurray Drive doing a criminal investigation when one of them was apparently fired upon. He was struck, but the bullet did not penetrate through his protective Kevlar vest. The officer sustained only minor injuries. The suspected shooter was killed by return fire. He’s identified as 53-year-old Edward Paul Parinella of Redding. All four officers who were present are on administrative leave. Redding Police Department is the lead agency handling the investigation.
