Stormy Weather Hampers Search For Remains Of Dead Woman

The search for more remains of a Cottonwood woman has been hindered by Murky Waters at Whiskeytown Lake. Shasta County Sheriff’s Department divers returned to the lake Wednesday to resume combing the bottom for evidence. A leg and other body parts were found on the lake bottom over the weekend during the search for Bridget Jacobs. The search was suspended due to poor visibility, and Deputy Jerry Maul tells us it hasn’t gotten much better. With stormy conditions expected over the next few days, the visibility will likely get even worse. Bridget’s husband Philip allegedly admitted during questioning that he dumped his wife in the lake. He denies killing her, saying she accidentally fell down a flight of stairs on March 15th during an argument at their home on Westridge Road in Cottonwood. It’s believed that he drove to Brandy Creek Marina on the 19th, rowed a boat out and dumped the remains into the water. Detectives say that after examining the recovered remains it appears the body did not break apart from decomposition, but that she was deliberately dismembered. Philip Jacobs remains in jail on a Million Dollars bail. During arraignment Tuesday Jacobs entered a not guilty plea. He’ll be back in court on April 18th, when his preliminary hearing may be set.
