Car Thief Sentenced To 3 Years In Prison

A Tehama County man with repeated arrests for car theft has been sentenced after leaving his mark behind on a stolen car. 25-year-old Perry Joseph Perez Jr. was already probation for an attempted car theft, and he was out of jail on his own recognizance awaiting court action on a different case when Tehama County Deputies found him running away from an area that’s apparently known for car theft. He was detained as deputies discovered that he was running from two parked vehicles, both of which had recently been stolen. Perez had green paint on his thumb, which matched green paint on the hood of one of the cars and two cans of spray paint found next to a nearby dumpster. Perez was sentenced last week to 3 years 8 months in jail.
