M.I.A.P. Riders Escorting Child’s Remains To San Diego

The Missing in America Project is going to reunite a 6-year-old boy’s remains with those of his World War One veteran father 94 years after his death. The M.I.A.P., founded and based in Redding by Fred Solanti, has a mission of finding the remains of forgotten veterans and giving them military burials. Private Robert Henry Thompson was a Horseshoer for the U.S. Army. Originally from Bleary, Ireland, Thompson enlisted in the Army in 1918, but he didn’t make it home alive. He had a son named Donald Joseph Thomson, who was born in 1917 in Washington State. When he was 6-years-old Donald fell from a wagon and died. The boys remains were recently discovered in a storage facility in Lewis, Washington by M.I.A.P. volunteers. They researched and found that Private Thompson is buried in Fort Rosecrans Veterans Cemetery in San Diego. At the end of the month an M.I.A.P. escort will transport the boy to San Diego so he can be interred with his long lost father.
