Man Whole Stole Frozen Food From School Sentenced To Prison Term

A burglar has been sentenced for breaking into a Cottonwood School four times and stealing hundreds of pounds of food. In July somebody broke the lock on the outside freezer door at Evergreen Elementary School and stole about 1200 Dollars worth of frozen food. School officials didn’t report the theft, but they installed video surveillance. On August 31st the lock was broken again and about 600 Dollars worth of food was taken. Surveillance showed a blue minivan being used. A much more sophisticated lock was installed in response. In October the thieves returned and found the improved lock so they used a truck to pull a metal bar off the door, causing $25,000 worth of damage. About 2000 Dollars worth of food was taken. Surveillance showed the same blue minivan, as well as a Dodge Dakota pickup and a motorcycle. Detectives asked around Cottonwood and heard that 40-year-old Donald Harrison had been trying to sell bulk quantities of food in Anderson. Probation searches were done at 2 homes in Anderson and Cottonwood and about 300 pounds of food was found. A search was done of Harrison’s home on Riverland Drive and another 90 pounds of frozen food was found. The three vehicles caught on camera all belonged to Harrison. He has a prior strike, leading to his sentence of six years in state prison.
