Washington Trucker Killed In Crash On I-5

The Shasta County Coroners Office has released the name of the trucker killed Tuesday morning in a crash near Castella. Southbound Interstate Five was at a crawl for most of the day after the crash about 46 miles north of Redding. 37-year-old Davinder Singh Matter from Federal Way, Washington was driving a tractor-trailer hauling paper rolls. He was south of Castella at an unknown speed when he lost control and the truck hit the guard rail. The big rig overturned and spilled its load near Flume Creek, completely blocking the southbound side of the freeway. Traffic backed up for about 6 miles bumper-to-bumper before one southbound lane was opened at around 11 O’clock.
