Valley Burn Pile Ban Goes Into Effect Monday

Fire season is on its way, according to Cal-Fire officials, who will ban all pile burning below an elevation of one thousand feet starting on Monday. For property owners above a thousand feet, a permit will be required by Cal-Fire. City of Redding burn permits will no longer be valid, and a burn ban is also going into effect for the cities of Shasta Lake and Anderson. Now is the time for people to protect their homes by cleaning up their property and clearing dry weeds from one hundred feet around structures. Information is available at readyforwildfire.org.
