“Most Wanted” Woman Leads APD on Chase

One of Shasta County’s Most Wanted was chased down after being caught shoplifting Friday morning, according to Anderson Police. At 11:18 police were called by employees of the clothing boutique Rue 21 in the Shasta Gateway Outlets, who recognized 24-year-old Bobbilee Ballinger from prior alleged thefts. Ballinger is on probation for arson and had 3 felony warrants for probation violations and car theft. When she saw APD officers approaching Ballinger got into a car and drove away. Officers chased her across the freeway and south toward Kimberly Road and Panorama Point at 80 MPH. Ballinger left the pavement near Green Acres Road and drove down a private driveway, then into a recently harvested field, where she ran into a stump and the car would go no more. She then ran toward the ACID canal, but officers chased her down. Before going to jail Ballinger had to be taken to a hospital to be treated for injuries from hitting the stump because she wasn’t wearing her seatbelt. When asked why she fled Ballinger said she thought she’d get a ten year prison sentence if she was arrested.
