Motorcyclist Arrested After Crashing Stolen Bike

Anderson Police had already given up on a motorcycle they were chasing when the rider crashed early Sunday morning. At around 3:30AM officers saw two vehicles street racing on Pleasant Hills Drive and Rhonda Road. They tried to stop a Yamaha motorcycle but the rider took off toward Cottonwood. He was going way over 100 miles an hour on Interstate Five and then on westbound Gas Point Road. Due to safety concerns officers discontinued the pursuit and started heading back to Anderson but then dispatchers informed them that the motorcycle had crashed on Gas Point Road at West Anderson Drive. When they got there officers found the Yamaha along with 19-year-old Michael Aaron Chitwood. He was injured and taken by ambulance to a hospital. The motorcycle had been reported stolen from a Cottonwood home and Chitwood will face multiple charges when he gets out of the hospital.
