Tuesday’s regularly scheduled Redding City Council meeting is reset for Wednesday due to National Night Out. The council will take on the sticky subject of unfunded pension liabilities, which were the subject of a grand jury investigation. Although the city management agrees with most of the dismal findings of the grand jury, there are some differences. City staff believes the diminishing performance of Cal-Pers investment returns can be mitigated by a 10 year general fund financial plan that relies on more contributions by employees and new funding sources, including taxes generated by marijuana cultivation and a potential increase in impact fees. Wednesday’s meeting starts at 6 O’clock.
