Deputies Raid Pot Garden Amid Large Wildfire

The battle against the Cove Fire in Modoc County was halted when crews came across a large marijuana garden. Two people were seen sitting under a tree on a ridge near the fire and it was decided that it was too dangerous to go on. Firefighters were pulled from the area as Modoc County Sheriff’s Deputies returned to the site to eradicate the marijuana plants. They removed 1870 plants and 600 pounds of trash. The deputies then called for the return of the firefighters to protect them from the approaching flames.
