Annual “Dark Sky Festival” Is This Weekend As Lassen Park

Lassen Volcanic National Park holds it’s annual Dark Sky Festival this weekend. Daytime activities include safe viewing of the sun with special solar telescopes, junior ranger astronomy activities and much more at the Yah-Mah-Nee Visitors Center at Manzanita Lake. NASA scientists will have a presentation on astrobiology, which is life in space. After dark big telescopes will be set up at the bumpass hell parking lot and the Manzanita Lake area. Visitors will be able to view some neighboring planets as well as the Perseid Meteor Shower. More information is at nps.gov/lavo.
