1 Arrested On Warrants At DUI Checkpoint

No drunks were arrested at a sobriety checkpoint in Redding Saturday night. Redding Police set up the checkpoint on Lake Boulevard at Tamarack between 6PM and 10:15PM. With the new California Office of Traffic Safety theme “DUI doesn’t just mean booze”, officers were screening for impairment from not only alcohol, but also prescription drugs, illegal narcotics and marijuana. 366 drivers were screened and none of them were arrested for DUI. Two were cited for having no license and one for driving on a suspended license. There was one arrest.  A driver was found to have six outstanding warrants, and three of them were for driving on a suspended license. The RPD says they have enough grant money to do more checkpoints in the near future.
