Crews Contain Modoc Complex, Continue Battle Against Other Lightning Fires

Wildland fire crews continue their battle against the Northstate’s numerous lightning fires

The enormous Modoc Lightning Complex has been declared fully contained at more than 83,000 acres and is being handed back to local command for mop up and strengthening containment lines.

The Parker 2 Fire, burning in the Warner Mountains of Modoc County, is about 8000 acres, now with 80% containment.

7 miles southwest of Happy Camp, the Clear Fire has burned over 6700 acres of steep heavily forested terrain, with 77% containment.

The Orleans Complex of fires in the Six Rivers National Forest, 20 miles north of Orleans, which now includes 19 fires, is more than 5700 acres with overall containment of 25%.

The 3 fires of the Ruth Complex that started last Wednesday in the Six-Rivers National Forest south of Ruth Lake has grown to 4600 acres with 40% containment.

Forest Service firefighters have contained all but 3 the 32 known lightning-sparked fires discovered last week on the Shasta-Trinity National Forest. All of the Shasta-Trinity fires collectively only total about 36 acres.
