Wildfire Smoke Continues To Drift Into Redding Area

Lightning fires have been fairly mild on the Shasta-Trinity National Forest and wildland fire crews in Modoc County have nearly defeated their lightning fires, but the steep rugged terrain and thick forests of the Klamath and Six Rivers National Forests have presented a daunting challenge.

4 lightning fires west of Happy Camp being managed together as the Eclipse Complex have exploded to a total of more than 17,000 acres with just 15% containment.

7 miles southwest of Happy Camp, the Clear Fire has burned over 6700 acres of steep heavily forested terrain, with 77% containment.

The Orleans Complex of 19 fires in the Six Rivers National Forest is around 7000 acres with overall containment of 475%.

The 3 fires of the Ruth Complex south of Ruth Lake in Trinity County is around 4600 acres with 60% containment.
