Woman Extricated From Vehicle After Crash Near Corning

A Gerber woman suffered major injuries in a crash in the Corning area Wednesday morning, according to the Corning Observer. 48-year-old Maria Cervantes Cueva was driving a 2004 Honda Accord north on Hall Road east of Corning when she stopped at the stop sign at South Avenue, then pulled out directly into the path of an eastbound 2004 Ford Explorer driven by 38-year-old Robert Calvert of Corning. The Explorer struck the driver’s side of the Honda. South Avenue was partially closed for about a half-hour as emergency personnel extricated Cueva from her car. She was transported to Enloe Hospital in Chico. The CHP does not believe drugs or alcohol were involved.
