July Unemployment Rate Shows Slight Uptick

Shasta County’s unemployment rate saw a slight uptick between June and July.  It went from 5.8% to 6.1%, which is still a big improvement from last July’s 7% rate.  The great majority of that month-over decline of 1200 jobs was teachers going on Summer break, according to EDD Labor Market Analyst Sheila Stock. Tehama County’s jobless rate was 7% last month, while it was 6.1% in Trinity County and 6.9% in Siskiyou County.  California’s unemployment rate rose slightly in July to 4.8%.  It was 4.6% nationwide
