Cronic Disaster Relief Donates Air Monitors To Fire Department

A local disaster services company has made a donation for some critical equipment for Redding Fire Department. Firefighters use handheld air monitors frequently to test the safety of air inside homes and businesses to be sure it’s free of toxins. They’re used frequently enough that lately they’ve been failing on a regular basis. Recently the department spent $18,000 to upgrade to a newer model that detects hydrogen cyanide, which is often present following structure fires. That was enough to equip 7 of the department’s 9 front-line engines. When Robert Cronic of Cronic Disaster Services heard about it, he donated $4500 to purchase 2 more for the department so that all of the engines could have a new unit.
