Man Arrested After Alleged Pizza Delivery Robbery

A man accused of an odd pizza delivery robbery was undone by police paying attention. Just before 1AM Sunday morning, a Domino’s Pizza was delivered to a house on Victor Avenue north of Hartnell. The delivery driver says he knocked on the door and a man answered it with a handgun in his hand. he didn’t ask for money, he took two slices of pizza from the box without paying, and the driver fled the area and called 911. Redding Police quickly surrounded the house but nobody came to the door and they eventually figured out it was vacant. Something had been used to shoot little round holes through all the windows… something like an Airsoft gun… and as the officers were investigating they could hear the distinct sound of an Airsoft gun pinging away in the quiet early morning just a couple of backyards away. Officers knocked at the door to that house and spoke with Damaraiae Jemele Jackson. The 21-year-old Jackson apparently fit the description of the robber, but denied knowing anything about the robbery until he was reminded that he had used his own cell phone to order the pizza. Then he reportedly admitted to the robbery, as well as the vandalism to the house, which is estimated to be around $3 Thousand worth. Jackson had a warrant out of Solano County. He was booked into Shasta County Jail.
